About The Good Ride

To sum it up The Good Ride is a Snowboard gear review and buying guide. This site is geared for the 5-100 day a year rider who wants to find snowboard gear right for them. We have a group of riders who try out gear and then figure out what kind of rider it is best suited for. Our crew won't ever go pro unless we get a body transplant but we can confidently say that we represent what the average rider is all about. We try to be more than just a site that recycles data from other sources. We also add our own objective review and rating system to help you find what works best for you.  We mainly ride in Mammoth and Tahoe but you might see us at other mountains around the country or Canada.

The Good Ride is a site created by me (the editor).  I was having trouble finding reviews that would help me buy gear that suited my riding style.  There are some great blogs out there but they are all from one riders perspective.  The Forums are tough to find info that you need and when you do it's usually a debate between riders that left me with an inconclusive feeling.  I usually had fun reading the blogs but not when I was in a hurry.  I realized that the average rider doesn't want to treat gear shopping like a second job and wanted to create a more user friendly experience.  The more snowboarding gear I tried the more I started keeping a log of what I discovered and how it worked for me.  I also love having my friends try my gear and love getting their opinions.   This site is the evolution of what I was doing for myself to buy gear.  I now hope The Good Ride helps you figure out what snowboarding gear works for you and your riding style so you make a regret free purchase.  I'm constantly working to make the site better and I'm always open to feedback.

Here are some but not all of the people who contribute to the reviews at the Good Ride

James Biesty (Pronounced Beasty)- I'm the Editor and Gear Whore Extraordinaire.  If you have a Beasty Joke I haven't heard I'll be pretty amazed. And yes I love the Beastie Boys and I'm stoked they didn't ruin my name.
Years Riding- Off an on for 20 years Years Addicted- 9 years.  Days a Year- 80-100+ depending on injuries.
I'm an all mountain rider but I lean more towards the Freeride side of things.  I love steep terrain, speeding on morning groomers, making good turns regular or switch and the pipe. I'm ok with a mellow kicker here and there and I'm not that keen on rails and boxes.
