The Nitro Team is a solid snowboard that is well liked by most who ride it.  Nitro has been known to make a board that butters out after a while but each year it gets better.  The Team is one of thear better boards in their line up and many still appreciate the way the camber version rides. The Good Ride Take

Nitro Team and Team Wide Snowboard Review by The Good Ride

Days on this Board 1
Riders-2.  5'9" 150lbs size 8 Shoe and 5'10" 200lbs size 9 shoe
Bindings- Burton Co2's

We have to admit we don't have a very high opinion of Nitro.  There isn't a real solid reason because we haven't tried many nitro boards.  However many riders we respect don't have much to say that's good about them.  So we decided to try what seems like Nitro's most popular board the Team.  We have to say that we weren't blown away but at the same time we didn't have a bad taste after a days ride.  The conditions were great.  It's been about 3 days since fresh snow but it's been cold and there were still some places on the mountain with powder stashes.  Some areas were getting on the firm side but nothing was even close to hard pack.  Our first impression is that the Nitro Team has a decent amount of camber and looks like it's a pretty springy and fun camber all mountain freestyle snowboard.

Groomers- The Nitro is one of the first camber boards we have taken out in a while so it was a bit of an adjustment at first to get use to the camber style ride.  Overall the ride was pretty fun for a directional twin.  It could handle just about any condition rather well.  It did feel a bit catchy and reminded me (the editor) of an old Burton board long discontinued I rode called the Raven.  It wasn't as bad as the Raven but it did on occasion feel a bit catchy.  The edges were de-tuned so we weren't sure why the Team did this.

Powder- Not much to say about Powder. We found some stashes here and there but it really wasn't enough to give a solid take on the Team.  We will say that what little we found it had that camber type of ride where you had to lean back pretty hard to keep it afloat.  It's not terrible but it's on the lower side of average.

Turn Initiation/Carving- Not sluggish in any way but nothing dynamic either.  The Team was fine making tight turns and then making wider turns. It's fun to carve on a camber board.  You can lay down a pretty good carve for a directional freestyle focused directional twin.

Speed- The team has a mid level flex and a pretty good base so unless you are looking to mach down hills the Team will do a good job at most speeds you need in and out of the park.   We hit a few really steep hills and many cruising groomers and never did we really feel any chatter. We didn't really push it today but at moderate speeds it was pretty fun.

Weight- Not super heavy but not incredibly light either.

Edge Hold- The Nitro Team Surprised us with it's edge hold.  It's border line excellent.  We were switching back and forth between a board with magnetraction and the Team so it was a pleasant surprise to see that there wasn't much of a difference switching back and forth between the 2 boards.  Even going down a trail that had lot's of snowment the edge held very well.

Flex- Torsionally and longitudinally the nitro was medium and maybe a touch on the softer side of medium.

Switch- This is a directional twin but it's hard to tell.  It felt very easy to ride switch

Rails/Jibbing- Nothing terrible.  If you want to hit some really technical rails then you might want to look for another board but you can fool around in the jib park with this board if you dull the very catchy edges.

Pipe- Can you believe that after over 20 feet of snow we still don't have a single half pipe?  Come on Mammoth!

Jumps- The Nitro Team isn't exceptionally poppy for a camber board.  Going off kickers in the park the Nitro Team did a good job and you can see why people like it.  Still this isn't the best board for creating your own air.

Overall the Nitro Team helped to change our mind about Nitro.  Again it didn't just blow us away but for the most part is a stable predictable ride.

The Team series is the foundation of the Nitro board line. The goal was to build a lightweight, all around freestyle board at reasonable cost, but to make sure it will out-perform anything else on the market. The Powercore gives the board great snap for ollies and stability for choppy landings. The Dual Degressive sidecut makes it easy to spin off jumps and prevents hooking in landings. It has a directional shape that comes in both standard and wide. New for this season is the Sintered Speed Formula base, to make sure you’re not going to get caught if you’re ducking ropes.
