Rome Bushwood Snowboard Glove Review

$59
Best Fit with not too much waterproofing.
A perfect warm weather glove with one of the best fits out there! The silicone palm makes it waterproof where it counts and the tech leather with a fleece lining makes it incredibly comfortable. Normally we lean more to a glove with more water proofing but the fit and feel of this glove made the editor keep it for the rest of the season and deal with the soakage.  The glove did dry fast. The Good Ride Take

The Rome Bushwood Snowboard Glove Review by The Good Ride

A perfect warm weather glove with on of the best fits out there! Silicone palm makes it waterproof where it counts and the tech leather with a fleece lining makes it incredibly comfortable. It's one of the only warm to cool weather gloves with leather that made the cut into the good ride favorites. One of its best qualities is its Velcro wrist strap. It's incredibly easy to put the gloves on and off and the way the strap opens up along the glove makes for a very conforming fit. It also seals up tight when you Velcro in. They are comfortable immediately but get even better every time you wear them. It's really easy to get on and off. This works great if you need to fidget with your gear or text your friends. The glove almost fits well enough to text on a blackberry curve (small keys) without taking them off but its much better without. Rome doesn't mention waterproofing on their site but the rubber palm is pretty much bullet proof.  The tech leather on the back and sides does soak up allot of watter and can get a little soggy on wetter days.  This glove would be much better with a DryTac Insert.  A few years ago Rome said it had an insert but the last 2 years it isn't listed so we think they no longer have it.   We'd also like to see a little more of the silicon on the back side and the sides of the fingers so when you brush off snow and slush by your bindings you won't get them wet. We never took these gloves out in any temp below 30 fahrenheit.  Most days were between 35-50F and we never had any issues with warmth even when they got a little wet. We can't speak to how they would handle in rain but based on the lack of water proofing on the back we wouldn't recommend them in the rain.  These gloves are well built and the padding near your knuckles feels really good. If you can afford 2 gloves buy these for the warm days and get something like the Rome Index for the cold days.

The Good Ride's Take on Leather- Leather is very comfortable, very resistant to cuts when you grab a rail and very form fitting.  The biggest issue we have with leather is how wet it can get.  Now with so many good water proof inserts that have up to or more than 20K waterproofing it will not soak all the way through to your hands if you buy the high end gloves.  Once leather is soaked it doesn’t dry as fast as other materials out there.  So if you ride in dry weather and have little interaction with the snow you will enjoy the positives of owning a leather glove.    If you live in wet weather then you might want to consider other materials or try to keep the leather to a minimum.

The Good Ride Take on Rome
Rome is relatively new but has some of the best people in the industry working there.  For example the designer of the Burton custom is now a principle and designer at Rome.  Their strong point is that they make exceptional park and all mountain snowboards.  They make boots and bindings that are loved or hated but don’t have the rep that their boards have.  From what we have experienced with their clothing its well made, fits well and the waterproofing isn’t bad for the price.   Their gloves are hit or miss and don’t really have the rep that their clothing does.  They have exceptional customer service and everyone at Rome seems to really love what they are doing so if you have an issue it will most likely be handled professionally.   Rome hasn’t really been leading the innovation charge the last few years but almost everything they make is well thought out and fun to use.   Rome has the average to 100+ day freestyle to all mountain rider dialed out.
