Pow Tanto Glove Review

tanto glove
$64.95
POW just keeps getting better. The Tanto has a good all around feel and is one of the most comfortable gloves we have experienced.  The combination of leather along with regular material is the perfect ballance.  Many of POW's gloves have a very short cuff on the wrist but the Tanto is just like any other low profile glove which makes it better for most snowboarders. The inside is very comfortable and doesn't have the grippy feel that many micro fleece liners have.  It's ideal to get wet hands in and out without pulling the liner out.  The Tanto is reasonably priced and offers one of the best glove experiences out there for the $100 and under price range.  The Tanto doesn't have Gore-Tex but it does have a 20,000 waterproof insert that is outstanding.  Yeah the Pow line isn't any more reliable than Dakine or Burton but we feel you get a better glove at a lower price.  That being said we were able to get a very long season out of this glove and it's still has more left for next year.  You should really consider Pow when choosing a glove.

The Good Ride Take

The Good Ride Take on POW Gloves
We feel that POW is really on top of their game right now and makes some of the best gloves in the industry at a very fair price.   POW is still small and well managed and that we feel is one of the reasons they are doing so well.  From what we can tell there are 3 things that make their gloves better than the rest.
1.  Their very smooth lining that allows your hands to get in and out of no matter how wet.
2.  Their exceptional waterproofing.  Their high end gloves have an insert called Hipora that is comparable to Gore-Tex and offers 20K waterproofing/breathability.
3.  They make gloves that fit well and last a long time.
If you are looking for gloves then go over the POW line and find what works for you.   You won’t be disappointed and will save money.

The Good Ride's Take on Leather- Leather is very comfortable,  very resistant to cuts when you grab a  rail and very form fitting.  The biggest issue we have with leather is how wet it can get.  Now with so many good water proof inserts that have up to 25K waterproofing it will not soak all the way through if you buy the high end gloves.  Once soaked they don't dry as fast as other materials out there.  So If you ride in dry weather and have little interaction with the snow you will enjoy the positives of owning a leather glove.    If you live in wet weather then you might want to consider other materials or try to keep the leather to a minimum.

Great Glove

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
"It's a great glove overall, and The Good Ride got it right in almost every category. The first thing I noticed about the gloves is how warm they are; you notice it almost immediately. So far the coldest temperatures I've tested them in were the low teens (F), but my hands were never cold once I got them into these gloves. Durability I'm not too sure of at this point, but they appear to be well made, and it was nice of POW to include a packet of leather conditioner to increase their life. If I could change one thing about these gloves, I would make the fingers shorter since they don't fit my small hands that well. I went for a size Small as PoW's measurements for that size matched my hand width (and its perfect), but the fingers are too long by about 1/4", so I find myself pulling the gloves down all the time so as to slide my fingers further up towards the glove tips. It's not a deal breaker for sure, but they don't quite fit "like a glove" for me. That's just me though, small hands, your mileage may vary. I probably wouldn't buy these at full price because of my personal issues with fit, but I got a great deal on them and so I think they were totally worth it. Do check them out"
