The Good Ride TakeSmith I/O Goggle Review by The Good RideSmith is known for making a wide range of goggles. We have not tried most of their entry level goggles but spent most of our time at the high end. Before getting into the review here is are 2 videos showing the goggle and the line. They fit perfectly with the Smith Vantage or any smith helmet. It's better with Smith Helmets but not bad with Non-Smith. Of course this is a quick change or quick release goggle so it makes it easier to have one frame and multiple lenses. It's pretty easy to change out and we found it to be a lot easier than your standard goggle. You only have 2 little notches at the nose that take a little work to get into and then the rest is super easy. The look of the goggle seems to be better in person than in the pictures and we are big fans of the frameless look. The foam on the Smith Goggles doesn't have that ultra cushy super conformist fit that many of the Oakley goggles have but it is much better than their lower end goggles like the Smith Stance. It is slowly conforming to our face and it seems more and more comfortable the more you wear it. So far there are no issues with the ventilation and they haven't even fogged up once. They don't seem as warm as other goggles we have tried and on really windy days we can feel the wind get in a bit but it's nothing bad especially with a helmet. The price is high with this goggle but to a 50+ day a year rider the smith IO might be a worth while purchase. You can get on fine without this high end goggle but life on the hill is much better wtih them. I (editor) am claiming these goggles as mine for the rest of the season as my #1 pair and now another rider was so stoked on them that he has em as well. Company InfoInspired by rimless fashion eyewear and driven by the need for interchangeable goggle technology, the I/O brings full interchangeability and a sleek rimless design aesthetic to the Spherical Series. The I/O is technology and style at their finest.

The fit of these goggles is great in conjuntion with my Giro Fuse helmet. I have used the new I/O's on 8 days so far this season and am thrilled with the versatility available with the wide range of replacement lenses that can be easily switched out on the fly. I have had zero fogging with any of the lenses I have used. The lenses themselves are superior when compared with my previous 2 high end scotts and the Zeal Optics Dominator. Overall a 5 of out of 5 for sure, I would recommend these to anyone. Obviously this is at higher end of the price spectrum... well worth the cost because of the quality and the wide range of interchangle lenses. Buy 'em if you can afford them! |

This goggle is fantastic. They have some great colorways and great options in lenses. I bought the Chrome Max frame with the Sensor Mirror lens, along with a series of additional lenses. The spherical lens is well ventilated and has a great field of vision. The I/O has great style and integrates well with every helmet I have worn it with. I wore it with some Smith helmets and also had it on most of the time with a Bern G2. My only ding on the I/O is with changing the lenses out. Though not too complex, it is not a quick snap-in/snap-out mechanism like they advertise it to be. You switch the lenses, but don't even try to do it on the mountain with gloves on. And if you try it with bare hands, be prepared to freeze your digits as it takes a little doing to get the lens situated. That one criticism being said, The I/O is my main goggle and their ignitor and sensor lens options are great in any light condition. I say buy it without hesitation. |
