The Good Ride Take
The Indo Board Review by The Good RideWe have not tried all of these but we own the Indo Original and tried the Indo Pro so this is our take on those 2 boards as well as our best breakdown of the other models. Both these boards really helped the editor when he was board at home and it became something that his roommates ended up using as well. Lets face it these boards have been around for years in some form or another. I remember my uncle made one of these in the 80's to screw around with when the surf was flat. That being said it wasn't any where as near as good as the Indo Board. There are a few other companies out there that make similar balance boards. The biggest is Vew-Do balance boards but the one issue we see with Vew-Do is that they have a groove in the roller and a channel that locks the board in place. You can slide around and ollie on the Vew-Do but you don't have the freedom that you do with the Indo Boards. With the Indo Boards you can perform more tricks and have many more ways you can use it. For example they now have two types of balance cushions you can put under your Indo Board that allow beginners to learn without any consequence and all level riders to add new workouts.
The Origional Indo Board is what we are most familiar with and it has stood the test of time. It's bulky and thick but easy to learn on. It is perfect for riders of all levels. The other boards have a similar feeling but offer variations. The Indo Boards we feel are best for advanced to expert snowboarders with good balance are the the Indo Pro, Mini Pro and Kicktail Pro. The Indo Rocker is pretty interesting if you get spinney. There are also a shitload of accessories you can buy to do more with the boards than doing tricks. You can get a pretty good workout. I (the editor) hate the gym. It just sucks to go in there and see a bunch of sweaty people looking at themselves in the mirror all the time. Even worse is the dude who spends all his time working his upper body and then calls a leg work out running on a tread mill. It is much better hanging out in your living room, watching a good movie and screwing around on a balance board or doing some workouts with it.
We have found that the hardest thing to retain during the off season is your balance and sense of riding a snowboard. This is the closest you can come to simulating snowboarding that we have seen. Company Info and Specs
