Sole Exhale Shoe Review

$49
After Ski/Snowboard Warm Shoes
The Sole Exale shoe is a shoe that I (editor) have tested for about 2 months now.  Before giving a solid review I wanted to wait until the weather got cold and I walked around in varying conditions of snow.  For most of us snowboarders one of the joys is we can hang out in our boots for a long time without suffering discomfort.  However some people like to take their boots off as soon as possible and have a shoe that will help them get to the bar without any pain.  The sole Exhale is a good after ride shoe that also supports the feet.  It doesn't scream snowboarder but it sure as hell is a comfortable shoe that I will wear for the rest of the season even though I don't like color burnt orange.   Check out the detailed review below.

The Good Ride Take

To start with the Sole Exhale has a foot bed that is the same as their insoles which is a good thing.  The Exhale also fits true to size.  In addition to having a contoured footbed the exhale has a pretty nice woolly covering over the foot bed that they call a sherpa lined foot bed.  It adds a little comfort and also makes for a pretty warm foot bed.  I have pretty warm feet but every year I get older they seem to loose more warmth retention.  The Exhale did heat up the feet many a time to the point where I had to take them off in the house to cool off.  It was also very easy to fold the back part of the heel down to use them as slippers around the house.  However when it came time to make the icy walk from the house to the trash can or to head out somewhere on a cold night after a day of riding the exhale really proved it's worth.  The traction is exceptional in fresh snow as long as it's not too deep.  When it came to walking in ice the exhale did a great job and I haven't done the awkward ice dance yet.  The Exhale is also very well made and after 2+ months of wearing almost every day there is no visible signs of wear and tear.  They have become a little smelly but I don't blame the shoes for that.  Because they are very comfortable and easy to convert into slippers I have worn them even on some days when my attention to personal hygiene was not exceptional.  Yes when the wife has to travel for work it pretty easy to take a vacation from grooming.

There isn't really anything bad on the technical side about these around the town and house shoes that I can really find.  The only thing I can think of would be to create a design that is less skiier/telemarker and more snowboarder.  I don't know what that really is because I'm never been know for an artistic shoe eye but I'm sure someone who designs shoes would.  All in all this is a highly recommendable shoe that does a great job in and out of the house.  Well done Sole.
