Rome Artifact Rocker Snowboard Review

Flat/Rocker Twin
Take the Rome Artifact bend it backwards and you have the Artifact Rocker. The 2010 Artifact 1985 will live from jib to jib and isnt good for much else. The rocker is flat between the feet for easy sliding and then it rockers up after which makes for a stable ride between jibs. The 2011 changed it up a bit and added what Rome calls the "quickrip" sidecut. This means that there is an extension of the edges after the feet and then a mini side cut after that. This helps turn initiation and the really increases the edge hold. For 2012 there is a little added pop compared to the 2011 but nothing crazy. If you want a well made inexpensive rockered jib board you'll be happy with the Artifact.

The Good Ride Take on Rome
Rome is relatively new but has some of the best people in the industry working there. For example the designer of the Burton custom is now a principle and designer at Rome. Their strong point is that they make exceptional park and all mountain snowboards. They make boots and bindings that are loved or hated but don’t have the rep that their boards have. From what we have experienced with their clothing its well made, fits well and the waterproofing isn’t bad for the price. Their gloves are hit or miss and don’t really have the rep that their clothing does. They have exceptional customer service and everyone at Rome seems to really love what they are doing so if you have an issue it will most likely be handled professionally. Rome hasn’t really been leading the innovation charge the last few years but almost everything they make is well thought out and fun to use. Rome has the average to 100+ day freestyle to all mountain rider dialed out.

For the pure pleasure of pressing 5-0s and blunts, LNP, Eiki and Lazz all mount up the true-twin Artifact Rocker when they ride handrails, ledges, and boxes. The Reverse-Jib camberline is flat underfoot for balance on rails, while the reverse camber in the nose and tail makes press tricks so easy that it’s almost cheating.
