Level Fly Biomex With Impact Protection Snowboarding Glove Review

Level Mens Fly Gloves - F09
$90
Well Made Gloves with decent wrist protection
Level is very similar to Burton and Dakine in Price and Selection.  However usually you get a little more durability from Level for the price. Level's web site isn't the best when it comes to describing what their gloves are all about.  If you stay on their site a while, read the tech, construction pages, ect. and then go back to the description you can figure out what the glove is all about. They must just want the Level Fly Biomex to speak for itself.  That's tough when you can't find them in every store.  The Level Fly has everything you need.  The Fly has soft nose wipes, a goggle wipe and very durable Kevlar finger tips to let you wipe out snow from your bindings all year without wearing down too much.  There seems to be one consistent theme with Level's inside liner which is it is very loose inside the glove.  Some people like this but it can make it difficult to take on and off the gloves if you hands get sweaty or wet.

Level Fly Gloves: The Level Fly Gloves are Level’s most popular protective model loaded with performance and value. Featuring a removable wrist guard and Thermoliner insulation, safety and warmth are a given with the Level Fly Gloves. Psst… the Level Fly Gloves also feature a nose wipe for your boogies. Just make sure you wipe them off before you go shaking anyone’s hand…

  • Material – Membra-Therm Plus Membrane insert performs exceptionally well and provides 100% waterproof features while remaining highly breathable.
  • Insulation – Thermoliner insulation: soft, supple, and less bulky than high-loft insulation. The exclusive blend of fibers traps more air for more warmth.
  • Features – Biomex Plus removable wrist guard is the only wrist guard that keeps the wrist in an anatomically strong position, where muscle-forces and bone congruency combine to provide optimum stability without compromising the freedom to move // Kevlar reinforcement for greater durability // Goggle cleaner // Nose wipe

Protection:
Through its collaboration with the renowned, Klinik Gut of St.Moritz, Switzerland, Level has become the first glove company to study snowboard wrist injuries and to deliver an integrated wrist guard-glove system that is comfortable, versatile, and effective in reducing the risk of wrist injury. This system, called Biomex, has been shown to reduce the risk of wrist injury by over 700%. For ski gloves Level has studied different solutions for protecting the knuckles, back of the hand, and fingers, especially for ski racers and competitive free riders. These protective components, made form shock absorbing polymer materials, are ideally located on the gloves to maximize protection while ensuring flexibility and comfort.

best wrist protection, little bulky

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful
I bought this glove twice already. Why? It has the best wrist protection I found, and even though I'm quite an advanced boarder, I like the secure feeling when I fall on groomed and icy grounds. This is because the protection is hardly noticeable while riding and doesn't leave your wrist in an awkward position like almost every other wrist protection does. Therefore my complete wrist strength remains the same, it's simply protected in case I fall.

Why did I buy it twice? It's insulation worked great for around 150 days out there, but it got thinner and thinner afterwards. Unfortunately Level doesn't sell the inner part on its own. Thus I had to buy a new one. What isn't ideal either, is that the glove's fingers are a little bulky compared to ski gloves. But I guess that's the way it is with warm, big, snowboard gloves.

Everythin else is simply ideal. All additional features work great and are very useful. The water protection is very long-lasting, even though I also use this glove for race-boarding putting it one the slope a lot. The Kevlar-mesh is incredibly strong.

Great glove, best wrist protection out there. Just a little bulky and insulation gets worse over time.
