Burton Tronic Jacket Review

$289
Discontinued 2012
Just a step below the 2L Goretex Jacket but very very light.
The Tronic jacket is new this year and sparked our interest.  It seemed like a good jacket to have despite the fact it's not very well known.  The tronic has no real interior pockets.  It's has a thin lining and everything is accessed from the outside.  So the pockets you see on the outside are almost all the pockets you get. The only pocket you don't see is the audio pocket which is a little velcrow entry point behind the chest pocket.  It would of been better to just have your standard audio pocket that is inside the jacket because this isn't exactly easy to run your audio cable.  The Tronic Jacket we have is called bright white.  It looks a little different than the picture from Burton.  It is a little more white. We found this jacket to be a very good light shell.  For me the editor the light thin shell material is a god sent because I run pretty warm.  It might be one of the lighter thinner shells we have come across.  It's still wind proof but for those who run cold it might require an extra layer than your average shell.  The 20k waterproofing is also a good choice and we found the Burton Tronic to be a good choice for an ultra light shell.

Multizone ALS™ Lining

A concept first introduced to snowboarding over ten years ago, Burton’s Active Lining Systems [ALS™] are engineered to work with your body by utilizing different materials in different zones to provide the perfect amount of breathability, warmth, mobility, and comfort. For example, a closed-cell mesh in the core provides warmth and comfort while a micro cell mesh in the sides promotes breathability and provides moisture-wicking properties. In high-heat areas like your armpits, an open, macro cell mesh provides maximum ventilation so you don’t swamp out. Select styles utilize earth-friendly ALS Linings featuring recycled, eco-conscious lining materials to maximize performance while minimizing the impact on Mother Earth.

ALS
The basic package, with one material throughout for consistent warmth and breathability.

DUALZONE ALS
Found throughout the majority of our line, two different fabrics are placed in specific zones for targeted warmth and breathability.

MULTIZONE ALS
Our highest performance lining featuring three or more materials throughout for premium warmth and breathability.

All-Season Conditions

The most versatile, ranging from non-insulated shells to lightly insulated styles with up to 40G of Thermacore™. Simply add extra layers on colder days.
