The 686 Smarty Snowboard Jacket Review by The Good Ride

686 has been around for a while and makes one hell of a good jacket. They don't use Goretex but make some great 2 Layer and 3 Layer Jackets and have their own tested and true waterproofing. The 15K Smarty series is no exception and is a perfect choice for someone who likes a jacket that can handle all but the coldest weather without much layering. This Smarty is a 2Layer 15K Waterproof jacket that has a nice under Jacket. We feel the jacket says look at me but doesn't scream it like some park jackets do. The Flece Liner is soft and fleecy on the inside and smooth/bonded on the outside so it adds a little wind and weather protection. Combined together this jacket is really warm. It also has room for layers even when combined. The jacket without the liner still has some microfleece lining in the body part and a silk like liner in the sleeves. If you don't have a good 1st layer on the sleeves it can get cold on moderate days but its great on the warm spring days. One of our biggest complaints is the lack of description 686 puts into it's clothing. The jacket has hit some trees and rocks but hasn't scuffed. It's also seen everything but rain and hasn't let anything through. 686 makes most of their clothing to withstand the test of time. We have noticed that the Zipper can get caught on the fabric at the waist pockets and on the main zipper but it's not enough of an annoyance to tell you not to buy this.
