Bataleon The Enemy Snowboard Review

ENEMY_157

Advanced To Expert All Mountain
Triple Base Hybrid Camber Directional Shape
Bataleon's are hard to find but they make a good board and are unlike any other board in the market.  It is a great all mountain board with a Concave Edge and Catch Free Design!  The rest of the industry ignored the tripple base design change but don't think it means this board sucks. It is a great all mountain freeride board. If this wasn't for the tripple base tech this board would be very similar in riding style to the Rome Anthem and Burton Custom X.  We aren't that stoked on its burton price tag but they put a lot of tech into this for the price. For 2012 there is a bit more nose going on and less of an effective edge to make for a little less camber. Check out the detailed review below.

The Good Ride Take

The Bataleon Enemy Advanced to Expert All Mountain Snowboard Review

Board Size 161
Day's On the board- 7
Bindings Used- Burton C 60's and Burton Cartel's

Riders on the board- 2

What can we say about the Bataleon Enemy, for one it was a super fun deck.  Everyone at the Goodride thought that this was a really dynamic deck that was super fun and playful.  There was the Triple Base, which seem kind of weird was actually not that noticeable it did turn a little slow but other wise handle very well.  It really becomes noticable on days with hard snow.  It was super playful out on the mountain and you felt like buttering jibbing or every little bump.  Other things that we  also liked was the over all construction and weight of this board.  It well constructed and felt balanced and clean, no messy unkempt caps here!! Back to the riding, the Enemy can tackle some all the freestyle you can through at it and does charge on the fast and the steeps.  Here is my only problem with this board that it sits in a little of a weird zone of Freestyle/Freeride and some Big Mountain, but for you super hard charging Big Mountain Riders might find this deck a little more on the Freestyle side then they are use too.  If big mountain is your game then the Undisputed would be a better choice. Though the over all construction of a carbon core and Kevlar laminate the board can handle it, we found it to be a great Resort board that gets broken out on those days when the jibs, jumps, rails, log grinds and tight trees beckon!

Over all we found the Enemy to be a great deck and should be considered for any body looking for the Freestyle board that can hang all over the mountain this is the deck for you.  Also, we can’t reinforce this enough this board is another example of fine construction that is almost too nice to ride, that it could be art.  To recap all this jibber jabber, this board is SICK so get out and ride the whole Mountain!!

Groomers- If you only want to ride groomers and make good turns you will not be dissapointed.  It holds an edge well in hard pack but takes more effort to get to it.  It rides well in the chewed up crap at the end of the day.  We found only one weakness and that is sticky slush.  It sucked up the slush and sucked.  There was another rider with us that was on the Never Summer SL-R that day and that board had the least issues in the slush while this board had the most issues.  There is still no need to get pissy on this board thought because thick slushy  rainy days suck and we probably shouldn't of been out.
Powder- It's not going to suck on a powder day.  Actually it does very well for a cambered directional board.  It's not going to be a blast in the deep stuff and there will be times you could get stuck if you make a wrong turn on a mountain you don't know.  That being said its hard to have a bad time on a powder day.
Turn Initiation/Carving- This was the first tripple base technology board that we rode.  We thought it would be weird to get this board on edge but it felt just like a normal board. Its side cut and stiffness make it fun to make high speed hard turns. It's only fun if you are an advanced to expert snowboarder so when we say fun we don't mean easy.  It's responsive for a camber board but nothing like a hybrid rocker board. It takes some work but it responds.  This is a great choice for an advanced riders morning goomer run on a monday when everyone is gone.  When laying into a carve the Enemy is a lot of fun and makes for a great board to lean into a nipple scratching turn.
Speed- Very stable and very fast.  The base is fast, the board is stiff and damp.  You can straight line without any issues.   It doesn't have that Palmer/Salomon stability but it's very close.
Lightweight- very light and in the top of it's class.  It still feels well built and we did not dammage the board after a weeks use.
Edge Hold- We did not get an icy day but had a few hard pack days.  The edge held really well on those days.  It also climbed the pipe walls really well.
Flex- Boards keep getting softer and more damp so it's hard to rate what is stiff and what isn't.  This board is closer to the medium side of a stiff flex.
Jibbing- This board isn't made for the jib park but you can get by without breaking yourself if you are passing through there.
Switch- It's a pretty directional board and not that twinish.  It makes great turns regular but its just good enough to get by landing something switch.  It's not something you want to spend a riding fakie.  Just set this board back and enjoy turning the regular way.
Pipe- If you are just getting out on each end and not planning on riding switch then we'd give this a 5 for average pipe use.  If you rip then it's more like a 2.5.  We don't rip so we loved this board in the pipe.
Jumps- This board has alot of pop and a fast base.  It will launch you off any big kicker and get you to the tranny safely.  There are better twins and directional twins for those trying to land the bigger tricks but if you just want to grab a rail and ocassionally land switch then this is a 5! Its also great off natural terrain.

Bataleon Enemy 2011

This is hands down the sickest board we ever made. It comes as tech as it gets with all the trimmings. Crazy amounts of carbon, the tech-est of cores, fastest base material available and an edge system enhanced with titanal make the Enemy+++ feel like you've got nothing under your feet. But when you look down and think about it for a second you have a neolithic ultra charged mega beast waiting to slice its way into the next piece of mountain. The Future is now, bring it on!

Bataleon Enemy 2010

This project was started a few years ago with the wish of making a super light board that would survive the same rigorous breaking tests we put to our other boards. It took a lot of people in white lab coats a lot of time to come up with the right balance of light but strong ingredients like TDS wood core, crazy amounts of carbon and titanium, rubber sidewalls, you name it. We are proud to present to you this piece of hi-tech ultra-light snowboard technology. Can you say, "Hello Future?" Get your space boots on because it's right here!nemy Snowboard 2009: Uncompromised hardcore freestyle piece of shred that is not for the average boarder.

The Enemy Snowbaord is high-end, high-performance, and highly hard core. This board is uber-responsive with Superstrong Sidewalls, Triple Based Technology, and a Direct Twin shape. The Quadraxial Laminate on the finish makes this board faster than furious. No matter how hard you take the Enemy snowboard through the sketchiest of snow conditions, slam it on rails, stomp it off big air jumps - this snowboard is ready with a Carbon Enforced Core. The graphics were done by art legend Karl Grandin in a special feature for 2009. The direct twin shape gives bigger float on powder - it feels like air in the backcountry. This year’s model has Kevlar enhancement for extra responsiveness, making technical turns and tricks a mortal possibility. Fly free and fast on every part of the mountain with the high end Enemy Snowboard.
