Forum Holy Moly Snowboard Review

holy-moly-155
$449
Intermediate to Expert Freestyle
Hybrid Camber Twin Shape
The Forum Holy Moly is a very unique snowboard that has a very strange but interesting hybrid camber.  It's a step up from the Forum Honey Pot which has the same design.  Both have a mostly camber hybrid camber but between the bindings at they turn up the edges to make things more catch free. They also spoon out the nose and tail to make it even more loose when pressing. We didn't know what else to call this so we called it hybrid camber but it's nothing like the others in this category. It's like a distant cousin to the Bataleon boards but has a veyr different ride. The Holy Moly adopts a slightly similar idea from Bataleon's tripple base tech where they turn up the rails throughout the snowboard but between the feet the edge is almost like a normal snowboard. The effect is similar but the Holy Moly has an incredibly loose feel that is more like a very rockered snowboard.  Bataleon has a traditional camber snowboard feel except for the board is more catch free and the edge hold is better for riding outside the park. Forum doesn't care about mountain riding so they don't worry too much about edge hold and mountain stability. It's not easy to one foot off the chair and  the ride sucks if you want to take a normal approach to mountain riding. If you want to butter around the mountain and treat is like a jib park you will have fun but it's mainly for the park.  The Holy Moly is not for everyone and might be a good park only board for those that like jumps and jibs. For 2012 the ride and design is pretty much the same but there was some pop added that makes this a little more fun. If you want a high end version of the honeypot here you go.

The Good Ride Take

A quick look at the 2012 Forum Holy Moly

Company Information

Forum Holy Moly 2012 Description

Combo Platter

$499.95

More Intoxicating Than Bum Wine

If another brand made a park board like this, it would cost you an arm and a leg, and you’d lose out being able to ride the Holy Moly’s aggressive Combo Platter. Combining the pop and power of camber with the forgiving and playful ride of rocker, Combo Platter lifts the edges underfoot up off the snow, eliminating edge catch while maintaining grip and control for all-out park assaults. Enhanced with Booter Boosters NexTreme for carbon-infused pop to boost Andreas Wiig up and over and Buttercup in the nose and tail for a catch-free ride. The best park board ever remains affordable because we’re eating the cost, not you.

Combo Platter

All the power and pop with added forgiveness. With the same pop, edge grip, and stable landing platform as camber, combined with the forgiving and playful ride of rocker, Combo Platter ends the camber vs. rocker debate forever. This completely new profile has 3.75 centimeter wide platters running 25 centimeters along each edge, located just under the toes and heels of your feet. By lifting the edges up off the snow 2 millimeters in those key areas, the board has a less catchy feel but still maintains smooth grip and control when you put it on edge. This profile is rounded out by a powerful nose and tail for big takeoffs and landings.

Buttercup

Providing a loose, catch-free ride, Buttercup lifts the contact points in the nose and tail off the snow, creating a mellow hull effect. Perfect for a day lapping the park and buttering the mountain or when some deep freshies come into play.

Swinger's Club

We precisely shave the tip and tail of the wood core to save weight without sacrificing durability. This makes the board spin faster and float with less effort when the snow beckons. Join the club and swing with us.

Booter Boosters NexTreme

Found on only the Holiest of boards, multiple strands of carbon strategically placed from under your foot to the nose and tail provide a direct response with better energy return and more boost for takeoffs and flat ollies.
