Rome Reverb and Reverb Wide Snowboard Review

reverb-c-158

$420
Advanced to Expert Freestyle
Camber True Twin
Rome for some reason in 2012 felt the name of the Graft was not good enough to keep so they slightly changed the ride and the name to the Reverb.  The name is better but the Graft was a staple board.  Any ways the Reverb is a little softer than the Graft but the shape and sizing is pretty much the same.  Like the Graft it's made for a technical approach to freestyle and is still one of the company favorites when it comes to a do anything camber freestyle board. The Good Ride Take

The Rome Reverb Advanced to Expert Freestyle Snowboard Review by The Good Ride

Days on this board 2
Riders- 2
Bindings Used- Union Atlas

Groomers- The Rome Reverb rides well (not great) on just about any groomed run no matter how steep or how narrow.  It is pretty stable and predictable for a park focused board so even though it's not the best at high speed.  The Graft had a slight advantage here over the Reverb but not by much.
Powder- The Rome Reverb Rocker is much better here but if you are an old schooler you will know what to expect.
Speed-
The Rome Reverb isn't going to win any awards here when it comes to speed but it does have a nice 0-Park obstacle excelaration that many boards in this price range don't.  This is because the base is fast but it's a soft flexing board.
Weight- Not super light or super heavy.  It's on the medium side of light.
Turn Initiation- The Reverb can turn well even though it has that spiny floaty jibby feel. If your in a steep critical situation it will always turn where you need it to go.
Edge Hold- It's sufficient when the edges are not de-tuned. It holds a rail fine on a turn but its nothing you want out on an icy day or on an icy pipe wall especially if you ride in the jib park alot. Even though this is a camber board we would of still liked to see the "quickrip" sidecut. It's always better to have extra edge hold.
Carving-  The Reverb is not made for carving but if you decide to leave the park and play around carving regular or switch it will do a pretty good job. Still it's a true twin so it's not going to own it here.
Flex- Its pretty soft and flexy but not super soft.  It's enough to butter a bit and also give a pretty good spring when it comes to ollie.
Switch- There is no difference riding either direction.
Pipe- The Reverb isn't going to own the pipe but it could be good if you like a softer board or only spring like sessions.
Jibbing/Rails- Not a dedicated jib park board but you can take this there often and not have to many issues.
Jumps- This might be one of the Reverbs best qualities.  There is lot's of spring here if you want to generate your own air.  Even though it's camber the Reverb almost has that hybrid rocker feel like it wants to spin as you hit the kicker.

A quick look at the 2012 Rome Reverb

The Good Ride Take on Rome
Rome is relatively new but has some of the best people in the industry working there.  For example the designer of the Burton custom is now a principle and designer at Rome.  Their strong point is that they make exceptional park and all mountain snowboards.  They make boots and bindings that are loved or hated but don’t have the rep that their boards have.  From what we have experienced with their clothing its well made, fits well and the waterproofing isn’t bad for the price.   Their gloves are hit or miss and don’t really have the rep that their clothing does.  They have exceptional customer service and everyone at Rome seems to really love what they are doing so if you have an issue it will most likely be handled professionally.   Rome hasn’t really been leading the innovation charge the last few years but almost everything they make is well thought out and fun to use.   Rome has the average to 100+ day freestyle to all mountain rider dialed out.
