Gnu Street Series BTX $469
Intermediate to Expert Freestyle/jib/Street
Continuous Rocker Twin Shape
What we love about GNU and Lib Tech (both under Mervin) is they make one board for each type of riding style and make it really well.   You don't have to sift through 20 different boards to find what you want.  This is there "street series".  Try and guess what this is for???  Not much has changed between 2010, 2011 and 2012.  The only thing is the BTX has been slightly refined to make it a little more stable over the years but all boards almost ride the same.  This is very similar to the Lib Tech MC Kink BTX in the way it rides and is a very aggressive street board.  This isn't for everyone but if you want a small urban style board than can ride bigger than it is then you might have a board that will work for you.

The Good Ride Take

A quick look at the 2012 Gnu Street Series

BTX is a different kind of ride and is even different than other rockered boards. The MTX in the center part of this board really changes the ride. It will hold an edge in almost any situation and also turn different than any type of board out there.  Many people instantly fall in love with this and some still prefer a traditional shaped board.  It's up to you to decide but we strongly suggest you try it if you can.  Out of all the rockered boards Gnu and Mervin (same company) are really pushing snowboard technology to the next level.

The Good Ride Take on Continuous Rocker
This is where it all started or re-started in the Mid 2000’s. In the beginning Continuous Rocker was mainly for park and powder. Today it's still pretty much made for the same 2 functions. There are a few boards that are made for all mountain to freeride use but most of those have migrated to hybrid shapes.  Continuous Rocker helps you maintain a catch free forgiving ride which is excellent for beginner riders or those who ride at slower playful speeds through the park.  Almost every one we have tried has to be on edge or it will wander giving you that squirrely feeling like a skateboard with loose trucks.  The biggest issue is it isn't very stable flat basing or one footing in firmer snow.  Continuous rocker is for the most part really poppy and helps you generate your own air.  There are many styles of this shape so this could be a good choice for beginners, park rats and people who only ride powder.

StreetSeries 154

I always used to ride jib boards before i got my agent rocker.
Last year it was streetseries 2010 replacing my old burton dominant(camber). It was my first experience with rocker nad i wanted to have a BTX, coz i've heard they make rocker properly, with good edgehold due to magnatraction.

First thing i've noticed - presses like nothing and also(sadly) lacks on pop which i find rly important.
Nevertheless i had immese fun on Streetseries last year. It turns rly quick and feels sooo agile! it pushed my jibbing skills rly hard, because it was just so easy to do little corrections on low speed before going on a box or rail, it feels safe and presses rly easy. I had amazing control over this board while jibbing, never caught an edge - perfect.

For being a soft rocker it handled speeds rly good! i don't mind what other people say i had no problems bombing a hill with it, always felt safe with magnetraction. In pow it was rather hard, because it was so soft, but still ok.

The main reason why i give it 4 stars because i felt it was too unpoppy, i love poppy boards and i missed it rly hard. Also its rather unstable on jumps unless u land on both feet.
I'm not a great kicker guy, so i often landed with some back lean and snaped, coz streetseries was so soft.

Allinall its a great board for jibbing, buttering around and speeding on groomers, i bet if u're experienced jumper u will be fine there as well.
And i liked the rocker alltogether as well after riding camber, but switched to a hybrid rocker design this year which i like much better then normal one.
