Rome Garage Rocker and Garage Rocker Wide Snowboard Review

garage-156
$300
Intermediate to Expert Freestyle to Street

Flat/Rocker Twin
The Rome Garage rocker isn't made for morning groomers.  It's made for waking up late and hitting the jib park or street.  We like the flat profile between the feet because it makes for more stability than some rocker boards.  In 2010 the Garage Rocker was pretty new and Rome was working out the kinks so to speak on this jib board. The 2011 Garrage improved a bit but in 2012 Rome added their new sidecut that improves the edge hold and makes the Garrage Rocker a little more ballanced in other places in the park.  The Rome Garage Rocker still belongs in the park going from one jib to the next.  Rome knows what they are doing when it comes to making freestyle snowboards.  They also make a sturdy board for a good price.

The Good Ride Take

A quick look at the 2012 Rome Garage Rocker

The Good Ride Take on Rome

Rome is relatively new but has some of the best people in the industry working there.  For example the designer of the Burton custom is now a principle and designer at Rome.  Their strong point is that they make exceptional park and all mountain boards.  They have also made some really good boots, binding and clothing.  They have exceptional customer service and everyone at Rome seems to love what they are doing.  Rome should be considered when you are looking to buy and they are often overlooked.   Every product we have experienced from Rome has always been well made.  We would like to see a few more Freeride boards, boots, and bindings but all in all Rome has the average to 100+ day all mountain rider dialed.

THE BLUE COLLAR ROCKER

Poprock Technology for the People! Some riders sacrifice income for the sake of the shred. Others treat their snowboards like skateboards—use ‘em hard, wear ‘em out, and replace ‘em. And some of these riders want the buttery-ass, press-with-pop feel of a Poprock reverse camber board. Armed with Glass Reverse-Free Stringer Technology, the Garage Rocker lets these riders kill the local fun box and get floaty in pow.

PRESS TO THE PEOPLE

When you and your friends start your first band, you start simple. You get an Indonesian Strat, pick up a well-worn amp, find a used drum kit, set it all up in your parents’ garage, and disturb the neighbors. The set-up is simple, but that doesn’t matter because the focus is on having fun and learning new riffs. For all those park-progression days with friends learning new box variations, backside 5s, and 5-Os on down rails, the new reverse camber Garage Rocker 1985 delivers all the press without all the price. Armed with Poprock Technology, the V Stringer powers the Reverse-Jib camber profile with pop in the nose and tail. Good Board

0 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Mostly accurate. I think its "good" at speed and "excellent" at carving. The only negative thing that I can say about this board is that the edge hold could be better. Its good but not great. I have really enjoyed riding this board so far this season. Its great balance between responsive and playful. Great for beginner and intermediate riders.
