This seems like a softer watered down version of the Feelgood and will work for those who like to work on their all mountain skills.  The Troop is basically a watered down version of the Burton Feelgood ES.  The Troop will help get you ready for the Feelgood ES or a similar board like it.

The Good Ride Take

The Good Ride Take on Burton

Burton is huge. They have developed or acquired most of the technology that we use today. Burton is one of the only companies that can provide you with everything you need to snowboard from boards to beanies.  Burton even owns arguably the best surfboard company Channel Islands because Jake likes to surf.  They are like the Yankees of snowboarding because they can always outspend their competition to win.

The positives- Burton provides more products for each gear/clothing/accessory category than any other company.  Burton has possibly the best customer service in the snowboarding industry.  Burton continuously spends more money than almost any company to develop new tech or just make what they have better.   Burton sponsors more pro’s and get’s more high level user feed back than any other company.  They have some of the best boots, bindings and boards in the industry.  They also have great clothing.

The Negatives- Because Burton spends so much money on sponsorship and tech they have to pass this cost along to the products they sell.   They relentlessly continue to jack up the prices every year.  You are almost always going to get a good product from Burton’s higher end line but some mid to low level products don’t stack up to the competition in the same price range.   Just remember it’s not always good because it hast the Burton label on it.

Company Information

Burton Troop 2010

Built with our most time-honored ingredients, the Troop™ is a freestyle master built to shred the entire mountain. Whether learning tricks or charging cliffs, this year’s gentler flex boosts confidence by creating a board that’s more floaty and fun when buttering, jibbing, and landing. For as playful and relaxed as the Troop feels, it grips like it’s got all-wheel drive thanks to the added control of Pressure Distribution Edges.

Troop rides well with:
Stiletto bindings and Emerald boots
Core
  • Dualzone EGD

The wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges, perpendicular to the rest of the wood core, for superior edge hold and added strength.

  • Negative Core Profile

The team’s favorite profile features thinner sections of core between the bindings for softer flex and torsion. Perfect for everything from park, pipe, and pow to rails and boxes, these boards excel over a variety of terrain and conditions.

  • Super Fly Core

Lightened up and loaded with pop, this vertical sandwich of hard and soft woods saves weight and improves snap and response.

Glass
  • Triax Response Fiberglass

Versatile flex and response that’s capable of everything from straight-line big mountain descents to mellow laps through the park.

Base
  • Sintered Vision Base

Vivid graphics and improved speed, plus the durability and wax absorption our sintered bases are known for.

Shape
  • Directional

The classic, most versatile snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float and control to rip any terrain or snow condition.

    Directional
  • Pro-Tip

Another Burton first. Tapering the thickness of the tip and tail dramatically reduces swing weight and creates a more playful flex in the tip and tail.

Tuning
  • Infinite Ride

This exclusive pop and power-enhancing technology allows us to maximize pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks the board in for you. The result is a consistent feel from the first day forward, season after season.

Edge Technology
  • Grip & Rip Edge Tune

Our tried and true edge tune, perfect for slicing and dicing the entire mountain to pieces.

  • Pressure Distribution Edges

No fancy marketing campaign—just nine years of experience and another Burton breakthrough. The edges beneath the binding area extend out slightly for tremendous edge hold on hard, icy conditions, while remaining ever playful in soft snow. It’s there when you need it, yet can’t be noticed when you don’t.

Flex
  • Directional

This versatile flex features increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose that allows riders to easily maintain control over all terrains and conditions.

Feel
  • 3

To help simplify things, we've assigned a single "feel" rating to each of our boards. This number is based on a variety of factors including the board’s materials, shape, tip-to-tail flex, and torsion (aka edge-to-edge rigidity). This number is based on a scale from one to ten with one being softer and more relaxed and ten being most responsive. Keep in mind that a higher number doesn't mean the board is more difficult to ride. It simply helps you compare boards within our line to determine which is best for your riding style.

Speedy & poppy - your "next step up" board!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
The only reason I took a star off this board is because it's my first since hiring and I don't have much to compare it to! But I have to say I loved it - my riding improved dramatically after buying and it was only my second trip. This board is a beauty to turn - all my friends said it would be harder to turn after a short hire board (my Troop's a 151 and I'm 5'3") - but I had no trouble at all, it glided like it was on rails. A self-wax helped x a million - don't rely on the factory wax - and it was flexy enough that I could hold it nice and flat on the gentler runs. Got the fab oppurtunity to test its powder capability too - the directional nose and the lightness of the board helps you to surf beautifully through powder. Upping my speed was way easy and the board is so poppy - it's a good laugh bouncing off the fluffier moguls, but a bit crazy on harder-packed snow, so bend your knees and hold on tight!!!! This board is great for if you want to up your game as it's exciting yet mainly forgiving to ride, and was fantastic even at my lowish level (just made a Level 2 rider!). Buy it!!
