Rome Lofi Rocker Snowboard Review

lofi-150
$430
Intermediate to Expert All Mountain Freestyle
Flat/Rocker Twin Shape
Rome just makes a good board and the Lofi Rocker is a decent evolution of the Camber Lofi. The Rocker LoFi and Camber LoFi are pretty different.  The Camber has more pop and is a bit more aggressive but the Rocker LoFi floats better in powder and is more forgiving.  It's your choice but the Lofi is a great do everything all mountain freestyle board. We would of liked to see the "quickrip" side cut that most of the men's rocker boards have.  It would of made the ride a lot better.  Check out the Detailed Review below.

The Good Ride Take

The Rome LoFi Rocker Review by The Good Ride

The LoFi Rocker is the kind of board that can do well just about anywhere even though it has more of an appearance of a park only board.

A quick look at the 2012 Rome Lo-Fi Rocker

So here is how it rode.

Groomers- For  a board of it's specs we were really impressed.  It's the kind of board that really can carve, jib, carve around the mountain and that is really fun.  It has enough stability at speed to make it a pretty fun groomer board.
Powder- As far as a twin is concerned the LoFi Rocker did a pretty good job.  The flat between the feet plains well and the rocker keeps you afloat.
Turn Initiation/Carving-Like many flat/rocker boards the turn initiation isn't super easy but it's pretty easy.  We actually prefer this to the ultra easy feeling to turn many hybrid rocker boards create.  You can make short quick turns or long carving turns.  The long carving turns part was pretty surprising for this board.  We expected less but it was just a bit better than average.
Speed- Again another surprise here.  We expected stability between the feet but the board is pretty damp for a park twin.  This was a lot of fun. Don't get us wrong this is right on the average side of good but we were expecting average.
Weight- Not super light but pretty light.
Edge Hold- We would like to see the quickrip side cut added to the LoFi Rocker but it still holds a decent edge.
Flex- The flex is soft enough to butter but not so soft that you can't deal with a little speed.  Very fun balance.
Switch- This centered stance true twin is incredibly easy to ride either direction.
Rails/Jibbing- The LoFi Rocker is not a dedicated jib board but it does a good job for its flex and riding.  You can slide across most rails and deal with most jibs. If you are serious about the Jib park then get something else but if you like everything in the park the LoFi Rocker isn't bad.
Pipe- If you don't hit the jib park all the time the rails will stay pretty sharp to have enough grip up some of the larger pipe walls.
Jumps- When it comes to pop there isn't a tremendous amount but you can get a pretty good ollie going with some work.  When hitting the rollercoaster park the LoFi Rocker stomps everything.  It's very stable and predictable when launching and landing in the park.

Overall we were very impressed with the LoFi Rocker and like the way it rides everywhere

The Good Ride Take on Rome
Rome is relatively new but has some of the best people in the industry working there.  For example the designer of the Burton custom is now a principle and designer at Rome.  Their strong point is that they make exceptional park and all mountain snowboards.  They make boots and bindings that are loved or hated but don’t have the rep that their boards have.  From what we have experienced with their clothing its well made, fits well and the waterproofing isn’t bad for the price.   Their gloves are hit or miss and don’t really have the rep that their clothing does.  They have exceptional customer service and everyone at Rome seems to really love what they are doing so if you have an issue it will most likely be handled professionally.   Rome hasn’t really been leading the innovation charge the last few years but almost everything they make is well thought out and fun to use.   Rome has the average to 100+ day freestyle to all mountain rider dialed out.
