Venture Storm Rocker and Storm Rocker Wide Snowboard Review
$565 solid and $895 Split. Advanced to Expert Freeride Flat/Rocker Tapered Directional Shape Like Fletch said in the 80's "It's all ball bearings these days" and it's all rocker these days. We are big fans of this type of rocker. Especially for Powder. For 2011 the Venture Storm is all rocker. This is like a rocker version of the Salomon Burner and Burton Supermodel. This rocker design lets the rocker happen after the bindings which allows for stability at high speed or flat basing but a more effortless float than it's camber competitiors. The flat between the feet helps you plain in powder better and hold an edge better than a continuous rocker snowboard. You aren't going to get the pop or really any pop like you would with the cambered version but you get a lot more float in pow which is a better trade off to us. It's a different kind of carve than a traditional board but once you get use to it the Venture Storm will do it's job well. This is a great back country/powder board that is not found in many places due to Ventures lack of effort to market outside of CO. They make this board in a split, and regular shape. The craftmanship is top notch and Venture puts out one of the best if not the best split boards when it comes to construction in the US. They also have a waist width that will accomodate men, women and wide feet. For 2012 not much has changed We aren't 100% sold on the womens specific snowboard and like that Venture has a smaller women's friendly size for every snowboard. We have noticed that many women's specific shapes don't have the newest tech and that sucks. Venture is a snowboarding company that we hope never goes out of business.
Developed in conjunction with Silverton Mountain and tested in Colorado's rugged San Juan Mountains, this deck craves big lines and burly terrain. It's chatter proof when bombing open steeps, but agile enough to navigate tight trees and narrow chutes without flinching. Moderate taper and a softer nose provide float for untouched powder fields, while a stiffer midsection and tail lend stability and control in unpredictable big mountain conditions. The surf inspired nose and rockered shape keep you from augering into the deep stuff. No wonder the splitboard version won Backcountry Magazine's 2010 Editor's Choice Award and the solid was named a Snowboarder Magazine "Best of Test" by Rocky Mountain retailers. With some minor tweaks to the flex for 11.12, this deck is truly dialed for whatever the mountain throws your way.
"Superb performance...super quick-turning, playful and stiff...Built for big lines and soft snow, the Storm is predictable, stable and surprisingly versatile." ~ Backcountry Magazine, 2011 Gear Guide
"Weathers turbulent and placid conditions equally well...Very fun to ride...This board moves like a disc jockey's hands: super quick." ~ Backcountry Magazine, 2010 Gear Guide
"Great control and precision...This thing charged all over the mountain." ~ Snowboarder Magazine

A thorough re-design for 09.10 includes a rockered shape and slightly softer flex pattern for increased freedom and mobility. The new surf-inspired nose keeps you from augering into the deep stuff. Solid and splitboard versions available. (Note: the split version was formerly known as the Divide)
For camber junkies, we also offer the STORM - C. It's the same great board with a traditional cambered shape.
SIZING YOUR BOARD One size doesn't fit all. That's why we offer each of our board models in four waist widths and a variety of lengths. We originated this concept because we believe the right fit is the key to a great ride. Our shorter, narrower decks have a softer flex pattern and are ideal for women and smaller riders. On the other end of the spectrum, our widest boards are considerably stiffer and boast a 27cm waist to virtually eliminate boot out. While it's often a matter of personal preference, the chart below shows our recommendations on sizing for width.
