$399 Intermediate to Expert Freestyle 2011- Continuous Rocker Twin 2012- Hybrid Rocker Twin 2012 Good Wood Award Winner! So the Spinster made a big upgrade from 2011 and added hybrid rocker in 2012 that they call Doubledog. The 2011 Chilidog is all right but the 2012 Doubledog Spinster is the call. The hybrid rocker shape that has proven to be a good ride for many other boards out there and this is true with the Spinster. Even though Forum is owned by Burton or something like that they didn't follow Burton's hybrid rocker design. It seems to feel/be more like the hybrid rocker boards from Never Summer, Mervin and Rome. The Spinster has the same advantages and trappings that most hybrid rocker boards do. There is effortless float in powder for a twin and the ride is super forgiving. There is also a little extension of the edges at the bindings just like Burton has that makes for a little more edge hold than a regular sidecut but it's still needs a little more when conditions start to get hard. If you can live with the limited edge hold the Spinster Double Dog will do very well as a mellow all mountain freestyle board that is loose, poppy and very playful.
This is what we call a snowboard that has rocker in the center and then a camber bend at the tip and tail. The end result is the tip and tail are still off the ground but it helps bring some good qualities that people liked with camber to rocker. The camber usually keep’s the board from washing out when you lay into a harder carve and for the most part provide a more balanced all conditions ride compared to continuous rocker or camber. This is still nothing like camber board and it provides a loose forgiving catch free ride. Hybrid Rocker comes in all riding styles from Freestyle to Freeride and is a solid next step from where it started with continuous rocker. Hybrid Rocker is usually pretty poppy, floats well in powder, catch free and very forgiving. The one complaint is it can still be unstable flat basing or one footing in some conditions like hard pack or ice. The major companies are working on this problem and it’s been getting better since this was introduced. Most love this loose feeling and get use to the squirrely nature in certain conditions. We at The Good Ride feel this is one of the better shapes out there so give it a try.

The Good Ride Take on Continuous Rocker This is where it all started or re-started in the Mid 2000’s. In the beginning Continuous Rocker was mainly for park and powder. Today it's still pretty much made for the same 2 functions. There are a few boards that are made for all mountain to freeride use but most of those have migrated to hybrid shapes. Continuous Rocker helps you maintain a catch free forgiving ride which is excellent for beginner riders or those who ride at slower playful speeds through the park. Almost every one we have tried has to be on edge or it will wander giving you that squirrely feeling like a skateboard with loose trucks. The biggest issue is it isn't very stable flat basing or one footing in firmer snow. Continuous rocker is for the most part really poppy and helps you generate your own air. There are many styles of this shape so this could be a good choice for beginners, park rats and people who only ride powder.
Looks Kill Armed with DoubleDog profile for playful power, this board isn’t for the faint-hearted. DoubleDog features camber sections located under each foot that deliver power and pop, while rocker sections located between the feet and in the nose and tail give a forgiving and playful ride for hitting it big and fast all day long. If stepping up is your style, the Spinster’s Booter Boosters will get you up and over while the Swinger’s Club lets you sneak in another rotation.
DOUBLEDOG
Playful Power. Prepared fresh, this delicious profile comes loaded with two great tastes in one. Camber sections located under each foot deliver power, pop and edge grip for charging fast and going big. Rocker sections between the feet, and in the nose and tail, keep it a forgiving and playful ride. Add to the recipe a core profile with softer sections underneath the feet and poppy sections between the feet and in the nose and tail for all-day park laps.
