2011 & 2012- Flat/Rocker Twin Shape
2010- Camber Twin Shape
So in 2011
the Rome Detail tried to get with the in crowd and added some rocker to the shape. The shape has a little flat between the feet and then a mellow rocker after to the tail/nose which makes for a great jib board.  The Detail of 2011 and 2012 is definitely different than the 2010 camber model but it's still designed to ride the in the same places.  The Rocker detail is very soft, small and super buttery. It's a stay in the park or street kind of board that some could really love.  The 2010 had more pop that the 2011 and 2012 but you get a lot more butterability with the newer rocker shape.  The flat between the feet helps for rails/jibs and creates some stability between jibs.  We'd like to see the "quickrip sidecut" here because even jib boards can use good edge hold. Maybe it will be there in 2013.  Still the Detail has a good jib park personality that many will like.

The Good Ride Take

A quick look at the 2012 Rome Detail Rocker

The Good Ride Take on Rome
Rome is relatively new but has some of the best people in the industry working there.  For example the designer of the Burton custom is now a principle and designer at Rome.  Their strong point is that they make exceptional park and all mountain snowboards.  They make boots and bindings that are loved or hated but don’t have the rep that their boards have.  From what we have experienced with their clothing its well made, fits well and the waterproofing isn’t bad for the price.   Their gloves are hit or miss and don’t really have the rep that their clothing does.  They have exceptional customer service and everyone at Rome seems to really love what they are doing so if you have an issue it will most likely be handled professionally.   Rome hasn’t really been leading the innovation charge the last few years but almost everything they make is well thought out and fun to use.   Rome has the average to 100+ day freestyle to all mountain rider dialed out.

THE ORIGINAL JIB STICK GETS INVERTED

New for 2011, the world’s original women-specific jib board has converted to the world of Poprock reverse camber. Always the most buttery board in the women’s collection, the Detail ups the pressability factor for dialing in your 180-to-switch-5-0. And it works damn well for just an everyday nose press also. Flat camber between the feel lets you lock into board slides.

BOMBDROPS FOR BOMBSHELLS

What do MFR and Silvia Mittermuller have in common other than they both annihilate everything they drop, hit, slash, or jib? They both up the ante on the Detail for rails, boxes and ledges. With a Gumby-like flex profile and Rome’s Bronze Edges to absorb rail impact, it’s not rocket science why they choose the Detail to blast out some of the best female thrash-hanging ever recorded.

no bronze.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
They stopped doing the bronze edge this year because it got really sharp after some solid rail usage and would cut though your outerwear. So it is a steal edge that has a jib tuning on it which is about 3 deg. so the the edge hold is a little better with the steal. Still supper fun and my favorite board to mess around on.
