Intermediate to Expert All Mountain Freestyle
Hybrid Camber Directional Twin
The Rossigonol Diva has been in the good graces of two of the most prestigious snowboard review awards in the US.  You can't argue with the Future and Transworld testers.  For 2011 The Diva added their hybrid camber tech to the MTX shape and now it has a stable ride as well as a better float in powder.  The Rossignol Diva can hold an edge as good as a super stiff boarder cross snowboard.  MTX boards turn a lot easier than normal boards and because of that it takes the joy out of a good carve.  This can be good for some but frustrating for others. If you ride in the park all day then you won't care and will really like this board.  Hybrid camber of this design is one of our favorite out of the hybrid shapes that all companies are putting out these days.  It's mainly a rocker snowboard but that little bend back to camber between the feet makes such a difference.   All in all the Diva can do great things throughout the mountain and is reasonably priced.  The 2010 is a great board but the 2011 hybrid camber tech is worth it to spend more money on for a better all conditions ride.  The 2012 is very similar to the 2011 but just a bit better due to some fine tuning.  Check out the detailed review below.

The Good Ride Take

The Rossignol Diva Review by The Good Ride

The Diva is one of those boards that should probably get more recognition that it does. We found this to be fun for all that rode it.  It's even a bit on the aggressive side. For me the editor it was one of my favorite boards I have tried recently and for the other riders it really surprised them.  All of us agreed that this is a solid all conditions all mountain ride.

A Quick Look at the 2012 Rossignol Diva

Groomers- If you live to ride groomers then the Rossignol Diva is made for a good time in just about any groomed run.  The only time we aren't supper stoked on the Diva is when the snow is very soft.  It's a common problem with many magnetraction boards.  They seem to dig in a little too deep or can be a little too grippy in wet, cruddy or dense soft snow.  The Diva is an absolute dream on a hard pack day.

Powder- This is a directional twin with a little bit of a setback so it's not going to blow your powder mind but the pretty solid rocker after the bindings makes for a good float for a board of this shape.  We had a little powder and a really deep deep day.  The Diva did a good job staying afloat but it wasn’t effortless.

Turn Initiation/Carving- The Diva seems to be a pretty stiff board torsionally. It's not difficult to turn but it does take a slight bit of work.  We still found it very easy to make quick tight turns and even more fun to make bigger wide turns.  When it comes to carving the Diva had the ability to carve on snow that you would normally wash out on.  In the areas that had good snow we could really lean into a turn.

Speed- Very Stable and Damp but it's not like some of the stiffer boards.  The base isn't super high end tech and it's not as fast as many of the bases we have experienced but it is right up there with the average board out there.  If this had a faster base this might have an excellent rating.

Weight- Pretty light but not a feather weight.  Still its well built and not much to feel on your foot when riding the chair.

Edge Hold- Right up there with all the great Magnetraction boards.  The kind of Hybrid Camber Rossignol has makes for very good edge hold to start with. When you add Magnetraction to this it makes for edge hold that we feel is incredibly grippy.

Flex- Pretty stiff between the feet but the tip and tail are not as stiff.  The torsional stiffness is up there though.  It’s not that easy to butter but it’s not terrible.

Switch- We found this to be very easy switch.  It’s almost like a twin.

Rails/Jibbing- Not ideal at all.  If you filed down the edges you could slide around ok but it's not for big technical jibs.

Pipe- The Diva just screams pipe.  It climbs the pipe wall very well and will hold an edge no matter how icy.   This is going to be one of the better aggressive pipe boards out there.

Jumps- It's pretty poppy but not as poppy as some of the boards we have used.  You can still generate a lot of air from this board.  Launching off of kickers of small to pretty damn big will work with this board as well.  It's pretty forgiving when it comes to landing too.

The Good Ride Take on Hybrid Camber
For the most part there are two types of hybrid camber that we see out there these days.

1. Mostly Rocker Hybrid Camber
This type of ride, like many boards, has camber and rocker but unlike other rockered boards the center has a mini camber. This is usually 1-3mm high, sits only between the bindings and then curves up right after. From a distance this board looks like a rocker board but when you look closer you see the little camber between the feet. This is not as loose as hybrid rocker but it’s very close. It is very stable between the feet and easy to one foot or flat base in any condition out there. Mostly Rocker Hybrid Camber is very versatile. You will see this design on anything from Freestyle to Freeride style snowboards. This will work well with all ability levels and riding styles.

2 Mostly Camber Hybrid Camber
There are all types of designs but this type usually looks like a Camber board and rides much closer to an old school Camber board.  ONe thing you will notice is usually when you step on the board the tip and tail rise up a lot more than a normal camber board will.  Some are mostly camber and others have a bit more rocker but you will always notice they have camber.  This allows for a stable, fast carve friendly feeling you get with camber but also makes it more catch free and floaty in powder.  This doesn't float effortlessly like hybrid rocker, mostly rocker hybrid camber or flat to rocker but it does better than camber.  You will mainly see this on aggressive freestyle to all mountain to freeride style snowboards.

Rossignol Diva 2010

Good Wood Award, Future Snowboards MVP award, yeah it's got em. A directional twin shape and all terrain flex pattern combined with Magne Traction sidecut technology helped the Diva MAG rewrite the book on performance women's snowboards.

DIRECTIONAL TWIN

Stiff tail for punch on kickers and solid landings, softer waist and nose for smoothness.

FLEX 6

FLEX 6

Each style has a specific flex pattern, or profile, that greatly influences its flex rate. Test-riding a board is definitely the best way to make sure its flex pattern and rate fit your needs. But for those of you who may not have the opportunity to test-ride our boards, we’ve designed a simple indicator, that ranges from 0 (for gum) to 10 (for stiff), that will help you compare them and occasionally fine-tune your decision.

MAGNE-TRACTION EDGES pat.pend. (6.7 to 8.8m)

MAGNE-TRACTION EDGES pat.pend. (6.7 to 8.8m)

Invented and developed by our good friends at Mervin Manufacturing, Magne-Traction has become the hottest visible technology to grace our sport since the highback.

WHAT IS IT?
On a traditional snowboard, most of the pressure is pushed through the feet down and out to the widest part of the board, the contact points of the tip and tail. The least amount of pressure is between the feet. Magne-Traction maximizing the edge pressure between the feet. Now you can ride with more control in the shittiest of shitty conditions.

DOES IT HELP ALL SNOWBOARDERS?
Beginner to Intermediate - Any level of rider can feel the Mag bumps increase their control. It’s like a full suspension Mtn Bike vs. one without. You can go faster, in more control and comfort, with the Magne-Traction.
Woman - Lighter riders benefit from the additional edge pressure and control.
Freestyle - Riders who detune their edges for sliding rails and boxes love the mag because even when heavily detuned the mag bumps still dig in and hold the edge.
Half Pipe - The mag locks into the re-entry and maintains speed across the flats to increase your boost and hang time. More hang time equals more rotations – spin to win!
Freeride – If you spend most of your time on edge, Mag boards are for you. Out-traverse your friends by pumping the mag edge and always taking the highest traverse line.

Magne-Traction is for everyone.

WHAT MAKES THE ROSSI MAG BOARDS DIFFERENT?
It’s important our Mag boards ride, look and feel different. We start with full wrap steel that surrounds one of the most durable constructions available. This construction rips through the chop and crud with ease. For all mtn and freestyle riding Rossignol uses a tighter sidecut radius which turns with ease but still can crank it up when you need too. Tight shapes finished off with tight graphic packages to fit a wide range of ripschnitters.

STONE GRIND

The base is 2D stone structured for a very low friction rate and perfect durability.
