The Good Ride TakeGnu B-Bro C2-BTX Snowboard Review by The Good RideDays on this board 14+ This board has quite a reputation and is quite a good board for almost any ability level. We used a 149. A quick look at the 2012 Gnu B Pro
Groomers- As you would expect in packed powder and soft conditions it is a dream. The B-Pro doesn't really perform as well as a cambered board or mostly camber board does on those hard pack days. When it's firm it can be a little squirely if you flat base but the new C2 Power BTX reduces this and makes it closer to a hybrid camber board. Turn initiation/Carving- C2 BTX solves a lot of all mountain riding issues and allows you to make a better turn than with a BTX board and C2 Power refined it a bit more. However it still turns almost too easy and can take the fun out of a serious carve. Many experienced riders like to work a little more for their turns so this board could be a let down for some. Still this is increadibly easy to turn. If you lay into a hard carve with the C2 BTX the tail will hold but it's still more washy than many camber or hybrid camber boards. Carving is a little better with the C2 Power BTX so that is the way to go if you are into carving. - Introducing the some camber back into the rocker shape really made this board more jump friendly. It's also very springy when it comes to pop. We felt the C2 BTX has a slight advantage over the new C2 Power but it's still very similar. Heather Taking the B-Pro C2 BTX for a little ride. All in all the Gnu B-Pro C2 or C2 Power is a great all mountain freestyle board for someone who spends equal time in the jump/pipe part of the park and the mountain. This is also great if you ride in harder conditions like you get on the east coast.
The Good Ride Take on Hybrid Rocker SnowboardsThis is what we call a snowboard that has rocker in the center and then a camber bend at the tip and tail. The end result is the tip and tail are still off the ground but it helps bring some good qualities that people liked with camber to rocker. The camber usually keep’s the board from washing out when you lay into a harder carve and for the most part provide a more balanced all conditions ride compared to continuous rocker or camber. This is still nothing like camber board and it provides a loose forgiving catch free ride. Hybrid Rocker comes in all riding styles from Freestyle to Freeride and is a solid next step from where it started with continuous rocker. Hybrid Rocker is usually pretty poppy, floats well in powder, catch free and very forgiving. The one complaint is it can still be unstable flat basing or one footing in some conditions like hard pack or ice. The major companies are working on this problem and it’s been getting better since this was introduced. Most love this loose feeling and get use to the squirrely nature in certain conditions. We at The Good Ride feel this is one of the better shapes out there so give it a try.

As with anything I buy, I spend hours researching before I commit (this website is gold!) and this baby pretty much came up trumps in its league. I knew I was going to be a hard girl to please as for 15 years I've been riding fairly stiff traditional cambered boards. I love going fast, I like being in control of my turns but I still like to have fun. This board ticks all those boxes but I don't need to work nearly as hard and its a lot easier to turn/spin. The riding experience is different so its not really about pros and cons. It's not as poppy as my old board but thats probably the only thing i'd change. If you are considering the switch to a rocker type variety want something that is fun but is still aggressive this is definitely the way to go. We have lots of fun natural terrain in NZ and spring has just arrived, I'm really looking forward to clocking up the days. Oh and the graphics on these boards look even better in person!! |

After I started riding this board, I have gotten better and faster each day I ride...it's so super stable, i pushed it, and pushed it faster, but this board just doesn't shake at all...it's like has no speed limits...with this awesome hybrid rocker board, I have smoked all the guys i ride with and left them behind! Just get one and you will be in love. |

This is my second Barrett Christy board and like my first she does not disappoint. The C2BTX means it has a reverse camber that concaves back up at the tip and tail. It also has a wavy edge called magnetraction which helps hold the edge with all the cambering going on in the base. I like this feature for powder and on groomers, however its not going to hold as well at high speeds. It starts to chatter and doesnt plow through crud very well. That being said its a super fun floaty board and the technology is fun to play around with, especially in pow.
